Applicant Privacy Notice

1. Purpose

Global South International (GSI) respects the privacy of individuals applying for employment, volunteer positions, fellowships, and other opportunities with the organization. This notice explains how applicant information is collected, used, stored, shared, and retained.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect your name, email address, telephone number, country of residence, application responses, CV or résumé, cover letter, and supporting documents voluntarily submitted through our Careers Portal.

Applicants should not submit government identification documents, financial account information, or sensitive personal information unless GSI specifically requests it through an appropriate secure process.

3. How We Use Applicant Information

GSI uses applicant information to assess applications, communicate with candidates, administer recruitment and selection processes, and meet applicable legal obligations. We do not use applicant information for unrelated marketing.

4. Access and Disclosure

Applicant records are intended to be accessible only to authorized personnel involved in recruitment, selection, administration, or necessary technical support. Information may be disclosed to service providers or competent authorities where necessary and legally permitted. GSI does not sell applicant personal information.

5. International Applications

GSI is based in the United States and may receive applications from other countries. Applicant information may therefore be processed or stored in the United States or other locations used by GSI's authorized service providers, subject to applicable data-protection requirements.

6. Data Retention

Under GSI's proposed recruitment retention policy, applications from unsuccessful candidates will ordinarily be retained for up to 12 months after the relevant recruitment process closes, unless a longer period is required by law or necessary for a legitimate legal purpose.

Records of successful candidates may be transferred to separate employment, volunteer, or fellowship records, governed by the applicable retention requirements. Verified deletion requests will be assessed promptly, subject to legal obligations and applicable rights.

7. Security

GSI seeks to protect applicant information through appropriate administrative and technical safeguards, including restricted access to recruitment records. No electronic storage or transmission system can guarantee absolute security.

8. Applicant Rights

Depending on applicable law, applicants may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, or to raise concerns about its processing.

To make a request, contact careers@gsiworld.org. GSI may need to verify the requester's identity before taking action.
